6th Annual Conference 2022

Making Sense of Self Neglect

On Friday 1st April 2022, the London Network of Nurses and Midwives Homelessness Group held its 6th annual conference at St-Martins-in-the-fields, London.

Self-neglect is an extreme lack of self-care. It is sometimes associated with hoarding and may be a result of other issues such as
addictions. It implies a lack of self-care that threatens personal health and safety. It includes neglecting to care for one’s personal hygiene, health or surroundings, and also the inability to avoid future harm as a result of self-neglect. It often involves a failure to seek help or access services to meet health and social care needs and an inability or unwillingness to manage one’s personal affair.

The conference aimed to open up a conversation about self neglect, and allow practitioners to decompress, reflect and to share good practice.

The event included an evening drinks reception and an award ceremony, and award winners are listed below.  A full conference report and speaker presentations can be downloaded on this page.
