Sarah trained in London (RGN) and in Oxford (RM). She worked as a Research Nurse in Oxford and Melbourne, Australia, and as a School Nurse in Oxford. Nearly 20 years ago she had her first experience working with people experiencing various forms of homelessness in Oxford City, at Luther Street Medical Centre, and she has worked there for the last six years.
The team at Luther Street provide care from a city centre purpose-built building, as part of a multi-disciplinary team which includes GPs, practice nurses, mental health practitioners, social prescribers, drugs & alcohol treatment service, dentistry, podiatry & acupuncture. As part of a team of nurses working in the treatment room, they are the first point of contact for new patients and give general care & advice – dressings, blood tests and chronic disease monitoring – to the 500 patients registered with the practice. The team works closely with the Oxford Night Shelter (located next door) and other services such as St Mungo’s.
